Internet completed its 19th year in Turkey on 12th April and it is celebrated with events on April 9 to 22. The 15th Internet Week celebrations are prepared by the NGO Platform.
The official announcement site of the Internet Week explains the purpose of these activities as: "Internet Week aims to spread the culture of the internet to the community, to create awareness of the internet, to promote and expand it, to start new projects, to discuss problems and solutions, in short, aims to put the internet on the agenda of Turkey". The founders of the Internet Week also said "We call all the members of the scope to turn this Internet Week to an Internet Festival, an Internet and IT Storm which surrounds the whole country." The founders of the week purpose to educate the society with events, conferences and training programs and aim to promote the use of the internet and to provide technical information. There is a call for active participation on the web site for this.
There is a possibility to see which activity is performing in which county when you click the ‘Activities' on the website. But there are not enough activities submitted in every country. That's why you have been suggested to check the activities will be performed in the nearest country. The Platform of STK Intelligence is not known enough but for 15 years doing these arrangements with patience and searching for sponsors and fundraisers every single day.
Not only in Turkey is The Internet Week celebrating but also all over the world with activities. For example New York Internet Week will be celebrated on 14-21 May 2012. The Europe Internet Week activities will be online on 12-16 November 2012.
